Vision
Technology has become increasingly important in our multiethnic, global society. As such, our schools should be a true reflection of the society and world in which our students live. Through technology, students should be fully engaged in the curriculum and their own learning. Students should be comfortable with and fully engaged in technology rich lessons and tasks in and outside of the classroom. In order to support student learning, teachers will use technology in order to support and to instruct all students’ specific needs and learning styles with the support of comprehensive professional development and instructional technology coaching.
With technology, learning can extend outside the walls of the classroom and continue when the school day ends. Students can and will collaborate with each other, their teachers, and community through authentic learning experiences.
Technology can be the means to engage our students, and in turn, raise student achievement for all students. Gunuc and Kuzu (2015) studied technology integration and its effects on today’s 21st century college students. The study shows that students with a “high level of tendency towards technology use” had a higher level of student engagement versus those with a lower level of tendency towards technology (Gunuc & Kuzu, 2015, p. 120). There is a positive correlation between using technology and attitudes towards technology and overall student engagement. In a technology rich environment, students benefits.
