Standard 1.4 Diffusions of Innovations and Change
Candidates research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools. (PSC 1.4/ISTE 1d)
Artifact: Action and Evaluation Plan
Reflection
For this artifact I chose the action plan created in ITEC 7410 Instructional Technology Leadership. This document outlines two specific technology goals that were determined using data collected from the SWOT, then determines success indicators, evaluation methods, and identifies strategies, timelines, budget, and responsible parties. The format for this plan came from the class text, Data Coach’s Guide.
In Standard 1.4 the expectation is to research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools. This action plan demonstrated mastery of standard 1.4 in that I researched current levels of instructional technology use at my school that showed that teachers were not using the purchased technology for developing highly engaging lessons requiring deeper understanding. As a school and technology leader, it is important to evaluate a school’s strengths and places for growth in order to prioritize professional development and technology purchases.
This task was a learning experience for me in developing as a leader. I learned that while I can develop a solid plan with well-thought out strategies that much consideration has to be given to learning curves of adults. In completing this artifact, I would improve my timeline to address the different level of learners the faculty is in regards to technology.
As I have served on the leadership team in my school, this task was a learning experience for me in developing as a leader. I learned that while I can develop a solid plan with well-thought out strategies that much consideration has to be given to learning curves of adults. In completing this artifact, I would improve my timeline to address the different level of learners the faculty is in regards to technology.
This particular SWOT analysis, or portions of it, was shared at a May leadership meeting at my school. The results of the SWOT analysis would be used to determine professional learning opportunities for teachers during pre-planning and throughout the first semester. Any following SWOT analysis on this subject would hopefully show an improvement in target areas. Walkthroughs would determine how classroom teachers are better using the technology available for use.
